Wolf Whistle - Demo

Wolf Whistle hails from Massachusetts, features former members of Have Heart and XFilesX, and plays a mixture of hardcore, punk, and pseudo-power violence. I use “pseudo” because Wolf Whistle is like power violence for dummies; and although it’s not bad, it’s not the real thing. Either way, Wolf Whistle is a relatively fresh band in an ever-increasingly stale and long-winded genre.

This is the band’s first demo. The material may not be as strong as their 2nd demo, but it’s angry, fast, short, and to the point.

Shook Ones - Demo

Originally based out of Bellingham, WA, the now Seattle-transplants Shook Ones have created a generous buzz for themselves between both coasts since their 2004 formation. With 3 full-lengths and a wealth of EP’s and splits under their belts, the band has consistently produced strong, poppy, upbeat, smart, and often satirical material similar to Kid Dynamite, Lifetime, Jawbreaker, and even the Descendents.

This is the band’s original 2004, 4-song demo. The tracks ended up being re-recorded and released on the Sixteen LP, but this a great showcase of a prominent band in their early stages.

Hate - Demos + Live Set

Other than being based out of Chicago, IL, I don’t know much about the band Hate. Their music is a chaotic mash-up of hardcore, punk, metal, sludge, and crust elements, and painfully appropriate for their namesake. After releasing 3 demos throughout 2008, the band self-released the Crimes 7” through their label, Vanthrax Records. If you like what you here, pick up one of the remaining copies.

So that’s about all I’ve got for this post. I’m giving you the band’s original 3 demos, plus a live set from Harsh Distractions (separated into individual tracks by yours truly).
